47 Democratic seats today

51 needed

  • Toss-ups that reach the ceiling
  • Not Democratic

Seat numbers come straight from the post. Vice President JD Vance breaks ties, so the Dem’s need 51.

We are now three weeks away from the Midterm Elections on November 3, 2026. I have been checking out the latest from the RealClearPolling tracker, covering roughly the last two weeks of polls.

I am in shock to say that the Democrats could win the majority of the Senate. If you remember that because of Vice President JD Vance, the Dem’s need 51 seats. That means the Dem’s must hold some seats and they need to of course win a few that literally up for either candidate on either party.

If you consider where we are today, this has now become the Democrats election to lose. Right now, the Dem’s could win 52 Seats in the Senate. The Democrats have 47 seats currently.

By the way, I do not care about the House elections today. I am only talking about the Senate. If the Dem’s somehow blow that majority, that would be hard to do at this point in time. I honestly did not even think in terms of the Senate until I broke it down this week. I also think that what Dem’s need to do are being done by very good candidates.

I also started to look into whether the Democratic Party understands this because I do not really hear any hype as to what they are doing but the fact is that they are doing what they need to do.

If you consider that the GOP Party has shifted spending away from Georgia and North Carolina, John Ossoff and Roy Cooper have huge leads in polls up in the teens in most polls.

That holds one seat and flips another seat. That would give the Dem’s 48 seats.

Another hold seems to be in New Hampshire where Chris Pappas is up 8 in most polls or around that number. That victory counts as another hold by the Dems.

I’ll be honest, I very much like this Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Though all polls are within the margin of error, I love the way that he is campaigning. He also has come being down or next to null to being able to win this election. He’s come a long way and, I would also go so far to say that all momentum is going his way.

I see a victory there and lets call it a win for the sake of this conversation giving the Democrats 49 total Senate seats.

Speaking of momentum, in Texas, James Talarico leads in most polls and again, the buzz around him is high. He is also an excellent candidate. He may be the best one running and at the same time, I trust that guy. I want him doing big things. Plus, he is against one the worst candidates out there now. I was surprised to see how close it was because polls between them are anywhere between 3 and 6. Talarico is ahead in every poll as of today.

Therefore, for the sake of this conversation, let’s say Talarico wins bringing the Democrats to 50 Senate Seats.

However and again, the last two elections we mention are not locked in and again, they are both closer than I thought there were today. I thought Talarico was ahead by a lot more. That tells you about Texas.

Then, one more flip I see coming is in Ohio and wait a second, we need to address the latest Talarico rumor or conspiracy theory where it was out there that he was in some mental behavior unit in Ohio. Why Ohio? Are they known for housing and recouping with regard to mental behavior issues in Ohio? That was a weird lie within the overall lie but anyway, I think we should get back to where we were at a few years ago with Sherrod Brown. First off, he is not only a great candidate, he is also great for Ohio. He was always big on jobs and manufacturers and then of course, mental behavior facilities and I am joking. I still do not get Ohio? Are there no mental behavior outlets in Texas?

The sole reason, besides him being excellent at what he does and forget how I feel he would be for the state and its people, is that nothing Trump, Paxton or the GOP threw out there works. He went from from Talarico being gay when I think he may be married to then him being Trans which is easy to determine folks unless trans people cut out Adam’s apple. The Talafreako name became a commodity and Talarico is great and smart enough to counter the lie machine. That is why we wont see any debates in Texas.

That is also because every GOP candidate is getting eviscerated in every debate.

Like I said, he’s been excellent. He should be good at this job. He deserves it quite frankly way more than a Ken Paxton who is not about the people.

Brown by the way, is up 6 in the current polls. I totally see this as a Senate seat flip for the Dem’s and therefore boom, we are at a tie in Senate seats but you need the majority with Vance in as VP. Overall and again, Brown is good at his job. Ohio needs Brown back in office.

The 51st seat can be won in two ways right now with Mary Peltola up in Alaska. She is also up 6 in those polls while being up 2 in another one. For the sake of this conversation, lets call that another flip with Alaska. That would give the Democrats their 51st seat if things are the way I say they are today.

You want some insurance? I am not sold on this candidate yet but at the same time, Troy Jackson, a progressive Democrat and fifth-generation logger seems to be doing well with a 4 point lead. However, I maintain a great candidate should bowl over Susan Collins. Considering her saying no for days after every vote that always turn to yes, she should not be that hard to beat. Can Jackson beat her? I am on the fence, but for the sake of this conversation, lets say that he wins. Polls are anywhere from him being up 2 to being up 4.

That win in Maine, coupled with the others I mention here, would give the Democrats 52 seats.

Now, check this out because granted, Kansas has not had a Democratic Senator since get this one, 1937. That is incredible to me because in this race right now between incumbent Republican Senator Roger Marshall, running for re-election against the Democratic nominee, megachurch pastor Adam Hamilton. Hamilton is up by 3% right now with other polls having them at 1% range.

The fact that I am saying these sentences is astounding to me.

Democrat Josh Turek in Iowa is up a few polls with GOP’er Ashley Hinson up in others. And, Dan Osborne seems to be pretty even with Pete Ricketts where if Osborne wins, the Dem’s would flips an incredibly red state.

Lets, for the sake of this conversation, give both of those toss-up states and elections to the Dem’s. That would give then an unprecedented majority of 54 seats.

Georgia, New Hampshire, and North Carolina look solid for the Dem’s. Texas and Ohio lean toward the Democrats but are within normal polling error. Maine and Alaska both tilt slightly toward the Democrats.

The ceiling is 54 for the Dem’s.

The Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) however, stated today that Senate Republican’s have an “enormous” financial edge going into the final few weeks before the midterms. Evidently, he says to expect what he called a “tsunami” of last-minute spending.

Schumer stated in a “Dear Colleague” memo circulated today how the “battle for control of the Senate” could depend on an “unprecedented tsunami of Republican money” that could help win the GOP candidates running in this political era.

Schumer states how they are “winning the argument” in key Senate races with the affordability and pointing to rising prices and allegations of government corruption under Trump. But then again, most people no matter what State, can feel that on their own. He then went on to warn how the Democratic messaging could be drowned out by the hundreds of millions of dollars that Trump’s super PAC and Elon Musk, are now putting into races.

“We have strong candidates, a clear message, and a political climate that offers real opportunities. But Republicans have one enormous advantage of their own. Money,” Schumer wrote today and I agree with it. That messaging was done well by the candidates.

“Republicans have one enormous advantage of their own. Money”Chuck Schumer, in his memo

A lot of it this year is all about being real. I get the lies but as far as the Dem’s go, the excellent candidates seem to be trying to be as real as it gets as far as being humans and people. Listening to Trump and his people is exhausting. If these people that back Trump and laugh at all of his odd jokes had kids that act the way, the kids would be punished big time and told how to act in a proper way. No parent would allow a kid to act the ways that Trump acts.

Yet his fans behind him that laugh at his jokes for whatever reason lately seem to be women my age.

Schumer says that Trump could spend between $400 million and $500 million from his super PAC, MAGA Inc., for his Republican candidates. Musk has given almost $300 million for these midterm election in order to support Republican candidates.

He says that “megadonors” are putting money into Senate races in amounts “unlike we’ve ever seen before.” That quote sounds like Trump but anyway, “that’s the enormous force bearing down on this election. And it’s a challenge none of us can afford to underestimate,” he goes on to say in his memo.

Republican campaigns, committees and allied groups have outspent Democrat’s by like $400 million.

I maintain that money is not the end all be all metric this year because overall, the people feel it. They get gas. They get food. We can see the prices every day. The people for some reason are also seeing the corruptness a lot more today because it is hard for everyone to watch Trump make Billions of USD in just a year and because the system is rigged for them to do it. All that while we wonder where our next meal is or whether to choose to get meds or feed the kid this week.

Then, we have some excellent candidates that can actually counter the lies in real time very well.

Trump overall, is still at 30 percent where I thought he fell below to like 28% this year. If that’s not an estimate, that moved back up 2 points which is his base.

“Over the last two years, our caucus has worked every day to make sure the American people understand that Senate Republicans are responsible for the costs they are paying and the pain they are feeling,” Schumer says.

Honestly, I think Schumer needs to not speak right now and he should allow the candidates once and for all, to be their candidates. These candidates happen to be great. Let it go. Let them be. And, do not overthink things like the Dem’s do all the time. Just keep pounding as is with blinders on.

The Democrats need to not worry about the Republican Party and what they do now. If they stay focused and they could now win the Senate
