New Delhi. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday used a cricket analogy to explain India’s foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and talked about India-UK ties. Also mentioned the blockbuster ‘RRR’ film. In the Raisina Dialogue in the country’s capital Delhi, the Foreign Minister said that “Captain” Modi gives a certain amount of freedom to his bowlers. The External Affairs Minister said, “With Captain (PM) Modi, a lot of net practice has to be done. Net practice starts at 6 in the morning and goes on for a long time. He expects you to take that wicket if he gives you a chance to do so. Jaishankar further said, “If you have a particular bowler whom you trust and you have seen him perform, you will bowl to him at the right time. You will trust him to deal with the situation. I think in this regard, Captain Modi gives some freedom to his bowlers. He expects you to take that wicket if he gives you a chance to do so. But I would say that some of it has been difficult decisions as well. The decision of lockdown was a very tough decision, it had to be taken. He asked, “If we look back now, what would have happened if that decision had not been taken.”
India going up decisively
Asked about India being a bigger economy than Britain and the enthusiasm of the people here for cricket, Jaishankar said, “I would call it a re-balancing. It’s the switch-hitting of history, it’s hitting the other way around. India is in a very unusual position, once again making a decisive upward move that many other civilizational states are not in a position to do…”
He said, “The most popular film in India last year was ‘RRR’, it has to do with the British era… The thing is that when your history is so complex, there will be a negative side to it, there will be doubts, there will be unresolved problems. “
Jaishankar said that India’s globalization is behind the growing interest in foreign policy. He said, “It is because the world is in a difficult place, most people are taking interest in the world. The second reason is the globalization of India. As a cricket team, we want to win matches not only at home but also abroad.
